Snow sports

The picture of Vollen harbour was taken at the end of January when the ice is beginning to thicken.  The photo looking down on Vollen village, after a light fall of snow and a frosty night, was taken in December.  However, we usually get most snow and the possibility of cross country skiing here in February/early March.  The snow canons keep the local slalom hills ready for sport.

The best place to enjoy good slalom runs in the Oslo district is at Oslo Winter Park which is just 20 minutes up from the centre of the city.  The season usually begins in December and continues to early April, depending on weather conditions.
